Fife Climate Youth Festival returns this year running from 18th September – 18th October 2026! This year the festival is a collaboration between Climate Action Fife and the Your Meaningful Climate Action team at YMCA Kirkcaldy, YMCA Glenrothes and YMCA-YWCA Cupar…and you!
The festival celebrates youth-led climate action across Fife, with youth groups, schools, community groups, and students invited to lead climate action events and activities in their communities. We’d love to see lots of young people getting involved to inspire climate action!

Who can put on events for the Fife Climate Youth Festival?
Youth groups, schools, community groups and students in Fife can put on events. Anyone from football clubs and scout groups to community gardens, charities and more can get involved.
Your event doesn’t need to be open to the public to be part of the festival programme.
You might already have an activity or event in mind that you’d like to include in the festival programme, or you might plan to do something new!
We welcome activities and events from those already working on climate issues and those who would like to learn more. This blog post shares some links and resources for learning more about the Climate Emergency which might be helpful.

Last year saw the first Fife Climate Youth Festival which brought together pupils from all of Fife’s High Schools for a day of climate action and learning. Read more about it in this blog.
This year the Fife Climate Youth Festival takes inspiration from the Fife Climate Festival format and is supported by Climate Action Fife and YMCA Kirkcaldy, YMCA Glenrothes and YMCA-YWCA Cupar.
Fife Climate Youth Festival runs from 18th September – 18th October 2026 so that we include Scotland’s Climate Week (which runs from 28th September – 4th October 2026).
Why is youth-led action important to our young people?
Young people in Fife tell us they want to take a lead on local climate action because they care about their future and their communities.
They want to be part of local decisions and have their voices heard.
Young people have fun and creative ideas that can inspire their peers to get involved too.
They can learn skills, build relationships, develop confidence, and gain awards as part of the process too – making decisions, taking action and enabling lasting change for the future.
