Community Tree Planting in Crail

Community Tree Planting in Crail

Event Information

Last year as part of our plan to plant 10,000 trees around Crail, we planted 3.500 trees at Kilminning, Bow Butts and Denburn Park. We will be planting another 3,000 trees (once again, kindly provided by the Woodland Trust) at Sauchope Caravan Park starting on Saturday 21st March from 10:00am – 4 pm. We will be working along the back edge of Sauchope Caravan Park to create a line of trees from Crail to Kilminning, making a wildlife corridor as well as providing shelter and screening.

As you head towards the golf course along Balcomie Road, turn right at the very edge of the village, down Warsea Road; there's limited parking at the end of the road. Ideally park in Crail in Pinkerton or Roome Bay, or take the 95 Bus (St Andrews to Leven) which stops in Pinkerton; it's only a short walk to the caravan park.

Everyone is welcome regardless of age or experience. Any time you can spare, even if it's just an hour, is absolutely worthwhile. We are planting whips (small bare root saplings), so it’s easy (albeit repetitive) work.

There's no need to book and, if you can, please bring a spade, although we will provide some tools. Planting trees puts a long term smile on your face. If you haven’t done it before, come along and give it a go! Help us help biodiversity, provide shelter, prettify the landscape, and fix a bit of carbon.
