Pick-up a fruit tree at Tayport Community Garden

Pick-up a fruit tree at Tayport Community Garden

Event Information

Please note that this pick-up a fruit tree event is open to North-East Fife residents only.

Join Climate Action Fife’s A Fruit Tree for Every Garden in Fife campaign. Pick-up a tree to take away and plant at home in your garden. We will have a limited number of trees so please book to avoid disappointment. We will have a mix of apple, plum and pear trees but we cannot guarantee which ones will be available on the day.

Planting a tree in your garden is one of the best ways to cut your garden’s carbon footprint. Plus, you will have free, fresh and delicious fruit in years to come. Fruit trees can live for 50-100 years and will provide habitat for wildlife and a beautiful addition to your garden.

Our staff will be on hand to talk to you about your tree and will make sure you know how to plant it. You can also pick-up a stake, tree-tie and tree guard to protect your new tree. Leaflets and guidance on how to plant and care for your tree will also be available.

If you are able to, bring a plastic carrier bag or bin liner to take your tree home in. This will help keep your tree’s roots from drying out on the way home. Your tree will be bare-root (not in a pot) so you will need to plant it as soon as possible. If you cannot plant it straight away you will need to have a place to dig it into the soil to keep its roots protected from drying out or frost.

If this event is fully booked, or you would like to see if there are any pick-up a tree events closer to you, visit the Climate Action Fife website
