Climate Friendly Gardens – Summer Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop

Event Information
This workshop will be led by Bob Bilson of Strathkinness Community Garden and Orchard. Bob is a highly experienced fruit tree expert with wide ranging expertise.
This workshop will take place in the Community Garden and Orchard. Enjoy a walk around the garden and orchard as Bob explains the different forms that trees can be pruned into, including, fans, cordons and step-overs. Bob will demonstrate how to prune and train apples, plums, pears, cherries and peach but the garden has a wide range of fruiting trees to learn from. You can also visit the Forest Garden area with wild fruits and nut trees. There will be a chance to practice on your own.
This event is suitable for beginners. This event will be outdoors with some undercover shelter. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing for the weather.
Strong gardening gloves are recommended. Equipment will be provided but bring your own secateurs and pruning saws if you have them.

Accessibility Information
Unfortunately there is no wheelchair access to Strathkinness Community Garden and Orchard.
There are composting toilets available at the garden.
Parking is available on Bonfield Road, you then walk down the lane to the garden.
