Garden Club – Earth Day Stories
Event Information
Garden Club takes place between April and October in the EATS Rosyth Centenary Community Orchard and aims to help families with children aged 3 to 10 to connect with nature and participate in various garden related activities and crafts.
This will be the first Garden Club session of the new season and professional Storyteller Sarah Wedderburn Ogilvy from Wild Story Weaver will join us and help us set the tone for what we’re trying to achieve in the community orchard’s children’s growing spaces.
During the session the families will be listening to some
traditional stories with an ecological theme. This will encourage them to think more deeply about the environment and climate change and how we can all make a difference.
The stories and the discussion which will follow will explore various environmental aspects such as:
- the impact of different gardening practices on the wildlife and life itself
- the importance of trees
- the importance of tending to the land and to plants
- the value of reusing and repurposing items which would otherwise be discarded
The children will also be sowing sunflowers and refreshments as well as a snack will be provided.
Dress for the weather including sturdy footwear as the ground can get quite muddy.
How to join
This event is free and there is no booking required, just drop-in to join us.
