Plate Up for Fife

Plate Up for Fife

Event Information

The food we buy and eat has an impact on Climate Change in many ways. In this 4-part programme of workshops we will look at how we can make more climate-friendly food choices in our daily lives.

Workshop 1: Energy-efficient cooking - Thursday 19th February 10am to 12pm. Cosy Kingdom will be discussing ways to reduce our energy usage in the kitchen. We will make a meal with slow cookers and introduce the topics of eating sustainably.

Workshop 2: Reducing our food waste - Thursday 26th February 10am to 12pm. We will be talking about common foods that get thrown away, the problem of food in landfill and exploring ways to change that. You’ll also be making a dish with leftovers!

Workshop 3: Eating locally and seasonally - Thursday 5th March 10am to 12pm. We’ll be talking about the benefits of eating with the seasons, accessing local ingredients and reducing food miles and packaging. We will make a dish using seasonal vegetables.

Workshop 4: Reducing our meat and dairy consumption - Thursday 12th March 10am to 12pm. We will be looking at the impact of red meat and dairy on the planet and sharing recipes and inspiration for plant-based meals.

It's important to attend all the workshops to get the full benefit of the programme. Please do not book if you have attended a Plate Up for Fife Workshop in the past.

This course would be helpful for community groups who would like to run their own climate-friendly food workshops. There will be lots of information to share about the workshop topics to help generate discussion.

Plate Up for Fife is part of Climate Action Fife - a Fife-wide partnership project, bringing together individuals, communities, local government and businesses to tackle the climate emergency. It is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund's Climate Action Fund.

This is a hands-on cooking class where you will be touching, tasting, and cooking food. Please bring containers so you take the food you make home.

If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, please let us know when you are booking.

This event takes place in our Lang Spoon Community Kitchen in Greener Kirkcaldy's Community Building. Find out how to get here.
