Mosey to Markinch cycle ride

Mosey to Markinch cycle ride

Event Information

Glenrothes is known as a new town, although it is now over 70 years old. However, this means the town has very little old infrastructure and was built with a good network of off-road cycling and walking paths. Join us for a leisurely bike ride where we will show you some of these routes around Glenrothes. We’ll be cycling from Kirkcaldy to Balbirnie Park in Markinch and back.

This ride is ideal for people looking to build up their fitness and discover some longer routes in the local area. It will also highlight quiet routes for anyone wanting to commute to Glenrothes or Markinch.

Route Information

  • Distance – long
  • Hills – fairly hilly
  • Surfaces – mainly smooth, good quality surfaces. Some short sections with slightly rougher surfaces.
  • Route – mainly on traffic-free paths, with some short stretches on quiet roads. One very short section on a busy road.

Please note that we may have to change the route because of e.g. weather conditions.

Additional Information

Please note that this bike ride is weather-dependent.

Participants should be able to cycle for 3 hours on a mix of surfaces. This route is a mix off road trail mountain biking with some sections of road.

Please make sure your bike is suited to off-road use and you have any specific spares required before coming and wear appropriate clothes for the weather. Remember to also bring your own water and snacks. As this is an off-road focused ride a helmet is required.
